BLOG 14 BOTTLE WATER MYTH VERSUS REALITY.

According to the myth “But tap water is still susceptible to germs, as well as pernicious chemical agents” It explain how even though people believe that Tap water is the same thing as the battle of water. There is still a concern of the germs the water comes with. Also what most people concern is if by using our on filters would remove the fluoride that all this water has after they have been “clean”.  It could be true that using your own filter might be cheaper if we are concern about our pockets. However if we have to think about it, I have come across of making an experiment myself one for my science class. As a result to this experiment I found out that bottle of waters and tap waters come from the same place. The only difference is that bottle of waters have a lot more chemicals to it that on the long run could be a health issue for us. On the other hand tap water doesn’t have as many chemicals as bottle of water does. If we are smart about it by having our own water filters at home will would be much convenience for all of us not only for our pockets, but also because we would not put as much chemical to our bodies then we do by drinking the bottle of waters. Also we cannot just go by what all this company says about the water they are producing and that they are trying to sell to us. We should all do our own research and then make a decision. Not just let them make the decision for us.

BLOG # 11 Summarizing The Meatrix

1.   1.    The first video the Meatrix is a copy of the movie the matrix where Morpheus shows up to give an opportunity to Leo to take the red pill or the blue pill, so he could find out what is the real world. He shows him a factory farm which is the place where most eggs, milks and meat come from. Also it explains how in the mid-20^th century, greedy agriculture destroyed all the family farms and made them factories to maximize their profits, putting in dangerous the humans and animals by giving all this animals antibiotics, and keeping them all in one place that they could not move, or see the sun light. Also giving those hormones to make them grow as much faster than unusual. Leo has been chosen as the one since he is the only one that could put a stop to this.

2.    2.   Part 2 Leo somehow have made a change in the world and people are learning to eat healthy, and now they know how to choose better the food that they are eating. Leo meet the responsible for such harsh things which are the agents of the Meatrix, which their purpose is to pumping the animals with the artificial growth.  The agents take Morpheus with them.

3.     3.  Leo save Morpheus from the agents, and they talk about the dangerous of working conditions, and how they manure in the meat.

Working with the tutor today in class was a great help. She explains me better on how to focus on my main points and how to try to summery my essay in a better way. Also she actually gave me a great technic that I was told by my professor not too long ago. Thank you for you help.

What would be your choice of taking the Red pill or the Blue pill? Me personally I would make the same choice as Neo did. I would take the Red Pill and would like to stay in the wonderland, and like that Experience a real world and get out from the fantasy I have been living my entire life. As it was show in the movie “The Matrix” Neo was on a fantasy dream what he called the real world. However his world was manipulated and controlled and he always felt like there where something wrong in the world he was in. This is why as soon he had the chance to see the truth he decided that path, since it was something he was always wondering. On the other hand “The Allegory Of The Cave,” the famous story given by Socrates of the journey from the world of opinion and appearances to the reality, also is another example of the manipulated world he live in and gave that up to know beyond of what he knew already. The world I live in is full of manipulations even though we don’t see it, we are manipulated by the government. Also religion is another way that we are being manipulated in this world was some of us think how the bible wants us to think and to believe. This is why I come to the conclusion of taking the red pill, because I don’t want to be trap in a circle of ignorance and manipulation. Second even though the truth might be painful many people could handle it on the other hand many people cannot depend how it was told. Thirdly after knowing that there is a true of the world I live in, I would not like to go back to be the ignorant person.
  First of all I don’t want to be trap in a circle of ignorance and manipulations. What I mean by that is we all live in a world where we are told what to do, in what to believe, and we are so ignorant that everything we hear and see in the news or what have been said by the churches and the important people meaning the government we think is true. We all live in a world of regulations and rules that we have to go by. We have to work hard for what we want and also work hard in order to survive and to have a better life not entire wealthy but to live not as poor. In the article “The allegory of the cave” the young guys were manipulated and shown a world that they thought it was real. However they didn’t know what the Sun was and how it looked like, they didn’t know nothing better than just staring at a wall and looking at the shadows that were projected. I don’t want to be that ignorant in my life I want to know beyond of what I have been told and shown. When I was little I was force to go to church and listen to the priest and to believe that Jesus was real and that he died for us and all the rest of nonsense that they say. Now that I’m older and have done my own research I have come to think the opposite of what I was told. I had come with the conclusion that everything that is said in church is just made up and not proven. Since there has not been a person that came from the death to tell us that he was alive while Jesus was and that he is a witness of everything that is said about Jesus or God. Because of this reason I would take the Red pill to know more of what I have been told, I prefer to know the truth about God then to believe something that is not proven. Also I mention the Government since is another way we have been controlled especially in this country, where they say we are a country of freedom but if you stop to think about it we are not. I have seen so many documentaries that had open my mind in many ways, and make me realize in the world I’m living like I said before controlled and manipulated by others. Neo in the movie “the matrix” found out of how manipulated his world was and how they were all controlled by technology. Which know all this open this eyes and staring viewing the world totally different then he was before. That’s what I would like to feel by taking the Red pill just like “Neo”, I would like to get out of the circle of ignorance and manipulation feel wiser and that whenever someone come up to me to tell me their stories that they think is true I would not be a fool and believe everything is true.
   Secondly Many people could handle the truth on the other hand many people could not handle the truth. Taking the red pill could be very risky because it could be a truth that we were expecting or something that we are not expecting and our reaction towards it may not be the same as everybody. Me in particular I would like to know the truth no matter how bad it is. I prefer to know the truth and know what to expect in the future and by knowing this my plans for the future could be different than what I have in mind now. In my personal life I experience how sometimes depending of what truth we are hiding could be harsh for some of us. My grandmother from my father side was diagnose with cancer and she had very little to live. All my family didn’t wanted to tell the truth to my grandfather since he was very sick and had heart problems. However the entire four months that she was alive, while we knew about her sickness he always question my aunts about my grandmother health but they always invented a story or they would go around it so they would not have to tell him the truth of what was going on with his wife. One month before she died he found out that his wife had cancer and had very little to live. Not only was this news hard to digest for him but his heart problems got even worst that he could not handle it since it was such a surprise for him after so many days and night seen her sick and not knowing why. He had a heart attack a couple of days later after he found out. And a month later my grandmother died. After what I pass thru with them is why I would choose million times the red pill from the beginning of what is going on than in the last moment. I admit that a truth like this would affect any body harmless in such way. But is better to know what to expect for the future so like that you could educate yourself better and prepare yourself for the worst or the better. Going back to “the matrix” and me being in it taking the red pill will take me out of living in a fantasy world with no freedom.
    Thirdly knowing that there is a true of the world I live in, I would not like to go back to be the ignorant person and act like nothing had happen and go back to believe everything that it was said to me before. Is very hard for me to move backwards in live, and that would be one of the things I would not do. I see videos with evidence and research documentaries that had opened my mind in such way, that now I see everything different in the world. I cannot see myself as close minded as I was before. Seeing the rest of the people out there that no matter what you tell them they are so close minded and have come to the point of believing everything the Government has tells them or of what they see in the news. I don’t think that is possible for someone to act like they have not seen anything or heard anything that sounded really true to them before. Because in the end you would explode of knowing how stressful your life is and how stupid you are acting. We are humans and we could only take several things but not live like ignorant after knowing a truth.
   To conclude no matter how bad the truth is I will make the same decision that Neo made by taking the red pill. Taking the red pill will open my mind and will make me a wiser person in live. It will help me make better decision for my future. It will also take me out of the fantasy, manipulated, world we live in.

BLOG 7 "THE DANGERS OF REALITY TV"

This article “The Dangers of Reality TV” by Thomas Sexton explains on how reality TV is a dangerous for us the young fans. How it could affect in our education since now we are young and most of us like to get easy money and not worked hard for it. The idea of not going to school which for some of them is a great idea. The article thinks that by showing reality shows like Fear factor since we could get a lot of money by just competing will change our mind of going to school. Since we do not have to educate our self to participate on this particular show or any other reality TV shows. However I cannot agree with this article because I think that not all people in this world thinks the same that it would come to an instant of affecting our education. All this TV shows are just entertainment that something is better to watch then soap operas. Also some of this shows could help us pursue or give our first step to a career specially who want to be a singer, or actress, even modeling.

     First of all Reality TV shows is not a harmful for us young fans. We all live in a very big world were we all have different ways of thinking and because of this they could not affect our education. By watching “fear factor” would not change our way of thinking to go to college and having a career. Yes this reality TV is a show, where by just doing some several challenges people could win up to fifty thousand dollars, somehow easy but not entirely since is a competition. I personally watch this show and because sometimes I get the feeling of wanting to be there, it does not change my thinking towards college, or to pursue a career for my future. Fifty thousand dollars is a lot of money for one person specially someone young, but this could only last probably five to ten years depending how you waist you money. On the other hand a career could last your entire life time. Even though we are so different to one another, a career is an important subject for many. To some people it could affect the fact of watching reality TV shows especially how you could get easy money but that affect would only be for a moment. In reality any reality TV show like for example “fear factor” never shows something or interpreted anything that could change our minds for education.
    Second reality TV shows are just entertainment, real things, and real life.  I see reality TV shows as a way to entertain myself and to see also and make fun of how some people make a fool of them self, other than watching soup operas that is just all lie, it has the same concept were the main character fall in loves with each other, they fight by the middle of the show, but at the end is a fairytale were they get marry at the end and live happy ever after. In the other hand reality TV shows entertains you, it’s also sometimes the real life of some people, and you could see them in action on a daily biases, when they make mistakes, or fights with each other, real deal then in some shows we cannot see, Since they   always cut that part so everything could be as perfect as they can.   
     Thirdly some reality TV shows could help us get a career for those who want to pursue their careers in acting or singing, or any other retaliated to TV. The passage instead that one of the shows call “American Idol” only shows a message of who far is more competent at what they do but lacks personality which the author says that they message is more likely to be that the image is more important than the substance. American Idol or any other show in Spanish or any language like for example “Protagonistas de Novelas” which is a show of also competition to be the winner an become an actress, this shows does not teach us that image is more important. This show actually helps those people competing, but other who are watching and their dreams are alike to become true to become an actress. They could be competing however at the same time they are learning how to become a better singer or actress, theirs mistakes, and us who are watching from home that might have the same dream, we could learn from their mistakes and learn little bet things from this professional people that are teaching them. It also sometimes helps people who financially reasons cannot afford an art school, but they have the chance to compete and if they win, or not they will still be recognize out there.
    To conclude reality TV shows are not as dangerous as the article is trying to pursue as to think that way. In overall reality TV is just an entertainment source that could help us take our minds away of so much stress we all have. It could help us see other things than just soap operas. For some who as the dream of becoming famous, or an actress, singer, model, is a first step to their career in the future. Reality TV show is not harmful or either dangerous to us young fans.

BLOG 5 "I KNOW THE TRUTH, SO DONT BOTHER ME WITH FACTS"

When the author “Jeffrey Kluger” in states in the article that “humans have long been dupes, and easily deceived by rumors and flat lies,” Just because many people could be easy to manipulated with insinuating pictures or inflammatory quotes. Him saying having say that make me relate and agree to his statement, because many people included myself have believe in rumors and lies, and thinking they are true. Also because I have come across people that no matter how many prove or facts of the true, they are so stubborn that they stick with what believes and what they heard before, that is sometimes is so difficult to reverse their position for simple ego.

                First of all, since my childhood I have always come across with people that loves to gossip and they are so good at it, with such a confidence that is hard not to believe them. One good example is my cousin, where she cannot be happy with her husband because every time she hears, or they tell her in person a rumor about him is always a fight since she believes every rumor out there, specially coming from her called friends, without looking at the facts or investigating furthermore how the true was. In addition to that I cannot lie, but have to admit I gotten fooled too and have believes those lies and many more without knowing if is just rumors. However I could say I have learned my lesson not to believe everything I hear; now I have to see in order to believe.

  Secondly I could agree with “Jeffrey Kluger” because there are so many people that have more confidents in rumors and they disregard the facts and the chance of daunting. People easily could be manipulated, with just any insinuating pictures or inflammatory quotes. For example people magazines and any other entertainment magazine out there no matter the language, that loves to quotes things without having the prove if it is true. They always find the way to put pictures of artist that somehow they get a perfect shot, when the artists are giving each other a kiss in their cheeks but in the picture it shows something totally different, that it looks like they are making out. Even TV shows are a perfect way to manipulate people, because I could say that probably there is an 80 percent chance that what they say is not true, and the other 20 percent it is.

Finally the passage “ I know the truth, so don’t bother me with facts” give a great example in how our everyday lives are filled with rumors, gossip, people assuming and making it seen that is true. Also people who believe so deeply like they believe in their religion, which is impossible for them to reverse their beliefs and change what they think and their statements.

1.       Many of this people were easy to manipulate with insinuating pictures or inflammatory quotes.

2.   They believe in rumors, gossid, the same way they believe in any type of religion.

3.       Due to simple ego they prefer not to listen and stick with their point of view, and not see the true.

my agreement with the author is because many of this people could be easy manipulated with any type of insinuating pictures. Also because they believe in rumors, gossip, the same way hey believe in any type or religion. and because due to simple ego they perfer to listen and stick with their point of view out of things, and not see the true.

BLOG 3 part #2 COMPARING MY STAGEIN LIFE WITH THE CAVE.

By reading the “Allegory of the Cave” I feel that I could somehow relate to it.

Just to visualize this people lives, how they grow up in a world that the only thing
They thought it was real was the shadows they saw projected in the wall, and never
Got to see the real world in another perspective, by visualizing the real true and not  
Making a fool of them self’s. I come to relate this with my situation in this world, not only
Mines but everyone else, I feel like that in some way I’m still in the stage where I’m walking
Out into the light, and finding out of so many true of so many stories telling I grew up with.
 As I was a child, I remember how I had to wake up every Sunday morning and was told to go to
church With my grandmother, if not God was going to punish me for not obeying, or even worst
for not Believing in him. Now that I’m old enough and could make my own rules and not force to
obey My mother in that sense, and understand things more clearly that could make my own
Conclusion. I come to understand that everything she was telling me was not
true, And that if I didn’t went to church nothing would happen to me, or if I don’t believe in him.
I have come across to so many videos in you tube that talk about God, and ask people what they
Thought, that opened my mind even though not everyone had the same answers. Now that I feel that I’m walking out into the light Is because I’m starting to believe that most of the things that people talk about God are not true, Just because I’m a person that if I don’t see it with my own eyes I won’t believe. Like one thing I don’t believe I that he died and came back after three days, that the book called bible was written from him, since that’s what some people say. However who could prove me all this is right, Nobody was there to see it, and no one from that century had come back from death to say “yes I have seen God with my own eye”. Therefore I would should my path of keep walking towards the light, and and not believing that everything is true in life.

This dialectic between two men called “Socrates’’ And “Glaucon,” Where “Socrates” explains and describes the life Of a group of people that have lived their entire lives, chained to one Another and to a blank rusty blank wall in a cave. This people grow up by just looking At the shadows of subjects, and people walking by a front of a fire they had behind them, That they never knew what it was, and this shadows where reflected on the blank wall in front of them. However one of the prisoners gets the chance and was Set free, where he got to experience the real world, and figure that all his life he was Living in a lie, that the cave he would called world, wasn’t the real world, that the real World was outside the cave, where he experience and learn what was the sun, how birds Looked like, the grass, and how he learn and could understand now from where this shadows He called world came from. Although he got the knowledge of the real and the fake, this was Not enough to be humiliated by the rest of the group when he went back to the cave, trying To set the others free also from a false world they were in it. The rest of them would make Fun of him and ironically they thought he was the crazy one. Never the less he decided To go back to a better life, then to be stuck in the world called Cave and the shadows he could only see.  

BLOG 2 "I KNOW THE TRUTH, SO DON’T BOTHER ME WITH FACTS."

According to this Article by “Jeffrey Kluger” humans are an easily target to fall for rumors and flat-out lies. No matter what facts we have for rumors, they think is right. Humans will always stick with what they believe because they heard it from someone else, or because is what they deeply belief.  However it is easy to manipulate some people’s beliefs system with these facts that less than a third of people were willing to reverse their position and change their statement towards whatever they thought it was right.

        ''Hype'' is a passage of advertisement, in this passage we find out how advertisement has grown over the years, and how it makes a big impact in  North America. As is instated in the passage there are every day an estimate of “2 billion display ads, 3 million radios commercials and more than 200,00 TV commercials are dump into North America.’’ This is crazy if this is only in North   America, I could imagine all over the world.

   I’m originally from Colombia, and I could tell you that is the same thing as here in America. Advertisement is one of the biggest businesses all over the world, and now with better technology and more advances we are getting, is going to get even bigger. In this passage the author show an example how every were we go there are ads, like on the trains, buses, the stations, banks, ATMS, computers, even our cell phones. Every were we go there is no scape even restaurants. I have seen most of the McDonalds how they have a big flat screen TVS, in the sitting area with flash advertisements, and even though we are eating, it could be in a group of friends or by ourselves, there would be someone who will stop eating, or talking to take a look at any ad that is showing in the screen.
   The author said “there is nowhere to run, no one is exempt and no one will spared ’’  I find this so true now days is impossible to say I would not pay attention to the ads, or walk by without looking or taking a quick pick to any of this ads out there. Even downloading video games for you cell phones you cannot escape. Now there are some free games that when you download them, right at the middle of the game or when you lose it will automatically pop-pop an advertisement, and we don’t have no other choice then read them read them while we wait for the game to show up again.
    Advertisement will always keep producing and the advertiser will always come up with new ideas to show their ads. Eventually no matter how many times we did not pay attention to many of the ads out there, but with just a glance we take, will stay in back of our brains that later in the future we would use that advertisement we saw in our advantage. Therefore the clever marketing stratefy of advertisment, will always make an impact not only to North America, but all over the world.
